About the Librarian

Deborah Foster

Deborah Foster, LPE Librarian

I am SO excited to be the librarian at Lake Pointe Elementary. Having lived in the district for 24 years now, with experience raising my children at two different elementary schools, I have learned that LPE has the greatest sense of community and I am so proud to serve everyone here. I graduated from the University of Texas and started my teaching career in kindergarten in AISD. After 3 years, I moved to first grade for 2 years before leaving the district to start my family. After my daughter was born, I opened a Kindermusik studio and was the owner/director of that program for 17 years before joining the wonderful community of LPE. My first two years on campus were in prekindergarten. I received my masters degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas and moved into the role of librarian in 2016. I'm the proud mama of two children, both LT "Lifers". My daughter is living her best life with her husband in Dallas. My son finished his first year of college and is currently looking for his next adventure. We love to travel, try new restaurants, and have game night when we are all together and have some free time.

As a 21st century librarian, it is my role to provide the foundation for student learning and to provide the scaffolding for reading success. Some of my roles and responsibilities are listed below:

1. Collaborate with teachers and other educators

2. Promote student reading

3. Provide instruction that addresses multiple literacies

4. Design instruction to teach inquiry and the information search process

5. Address diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in literacy lessons and programs

6. Conduct strategic planning that reflects the mission, goals, and objectives of the school

The door to the library is always open and I welcome you to visit anytime!
