Fentanyl Information and Resources for Lake Travis ISD Parents and Students

Our school nursing staff, counselors, police officers, campus leaders and administrators are aware of the dangers of Fentanyl and the deadly effects it's had on students in Central Texas.

We are actively partnering with local law enforcement, emergency management, and health authorities to closely monitor and collaborate on ways to combat the crisis. 

Our school board voted to amend local policy that will allow us to purchase, store, and administer opioid antagonists such as Naloxone (also known as Narcan) in the event of a drug-related overdose—in particular, fentanyl. Fentanyl is a highly-potent, synthetic opioid. 

All campus nurses and police officers will be equipped with Narcan, which can help reverse the effects of an opioid overdose within minutes. Narcan has proven to be a highly-effective, life-saving treatment when administered during an emergency.
